We're Looking for Your Expertise

Giving magazine is the premiere resource for fundraisers everywhere. We believe that a rising tide lifts all boats — and that by sharing knowledge and experience, we can lift all nonprofits and take philanthropy to the next level.

This Is Where You Come In

We’re seeking guest writers and contributors for next year’s issues. And by sharing your expertise, you’ll not only be helping other nonprofits, you’ll be establishing your authority in the fundraising space. Talk about a career-builder!

Please take a look at the following topics. If you see something that you can write about with authority, contact us and we’ll make the appropriate arrangements.

Each article should be about 600 words each unless otherwise noted.

What I Learned From …

(600 words or less)

Did you ever have a great boss who gave you a key piece of career advice? Ever made a mistake that taught you a valuable lesson? Did you recently learn something unexpected?

We’re looking for stories that help others learn and grow from your experiences. It could be a short nugget of wisdom, or a longer essay on achieving excellence. Whether it’s a unique takeaway from a conference or a story about how a lost donation taught you people skills, we want to hear it.

Examples of topics we’re interested in:

  • What I learned from the 2024 CGP Conference
  • What I learned from losing a $$ donation
  • What I learned from my first nonprofit job
  • What I learned about donor relations from my mentor

Etc.

How to Succeed In ...

(600 words or less)

If you’re a successful fundraiser, entrepreneur, executive or board member, we want to know what makes your process work.

Examples of topics we’re interested in:

  • How to succeed at year end marketing
  • How to succeed at getting donors to say yes
  • How to succeed at video marketing
  • How to succeed at landing major gifts
  • How to succeed at landing that promotion

Etc.

How to Use Digital Fundraising Tools successfully, Safely

(600-1,000 words)

Fundraising is increasingly happening online or via mobile device. We’re looking for someone who’s familiar with how the process works, missteps to avoid, and ways to get the word out about your online donation tool (PayPal, Giving Fund, etc.).

A Board Member's View

(600-1,000 words)

Are you a board member? What do you need when a fundraiser is seeking approval to launch a planned giving program, a new campaign, etc.? What common mistakes doom a proposal before it even gets started? We talk a lot about “Getting the board on board.” Now we want your perspective.

How to Attract the Next Generation of Fundraisers and Philanthropists

(600-1,000 words) Gen Z and beyond think differently. How do you get them interested in a nonprofit career, or in becoming philanthropists themselves? This is a story (or stories) about reaching younger generations.

Grant Writing 101

(600-1,000 words)

We’re looking for a successful grant writer to share tips on how to get that next grant proposal greenlighted.
